Dr. Roger Doss,
Ph.D., Licensed Professional Counselor
Executive Director
Dr. Roger Doss counsels children in play
therapy, and teens and adults in private
and group therapy. In addition, he conducts
seminars at the Center and, upon request,
is available for workshops. He utilizes
his elementary education degree in the
Center elementary school.
Roger Doss earned his Ph.D. in Child Counseling from the University
of North Texas where he studied with Play Therapy pioneer, Dr.
Garry Landreth. In the last twenty-five years, Roger has focused his
practice on couples, families and children. Having worked with
many clients who are dealing with the Child Protective Services
arm of the Department of Health, he's experienced in helping families
in crisis.
Roger brings a practical, insightful perspective to helping couples in conflict.
His ability to see options helps individuals make better choices in personal
situations. A true believer in the value of actively-engaging in life, he sees
a strong need for play for adults and children. Roger's own marriage of more
than twenty-seven years and his active, equal role as a father has provided tremendous
insights into the conflicts and rewards in intimate relationships.
Dr. Roger Doss is an approved LPC Supervisor.

Dr. Carol Doss,
Ph.D., Licensed Professional Counselor
Clinical Director
 |
| Don't go it alone. Should I Leave Him?, by Dr. Carol Doss, gives suggestions to help you know the direction you need to take. |
Dr. Carol Doss counsels individuals and families, especially enjoying working with
couples and teens. She also conducts seminars at the Center and
is available for workshops elsewhere.
A Licensed Professional Counselor with over twenty years experience
in the non-profit sector, Dr. Carol Doss works with a variety of
clients. She encourages individuals to take control of their lives
by enabling them to direct their own thoughts, feelings and behavior,
thus experiencing
personal power. Developing healthy, happy relationships
with mates and children can be the most difficult challenges
we face...and the most important. Carol's goal is to help adults
and
children discover their strengths and release their inner potential
which leads to the creation of stronger relationships and greater
success in life overall.
Carol brings a unique perspective to the counseling process.
Understanding individuals from their own viewpoints enables her
to better assist
in the situations they face. Human interaction brings the greatest
learning. She credits her twenty-eight year marriage and her
co-parenting of her two grown daughters with her greatest education.
As Clinical Director, she also supervises Masters level interns.
Dr. Carol Doss is an approved LPC Supervisor.

Stephanie Adams, M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor Intern
Stephanie Adams loves working with couples and individuals, especially women and teenagers. A distinctive quality Stephanie contributes to her counseling practice is the ability to work as a collaborative partner in the process of change. She does not believe the relationship should be about “one-up” but instead about sharing her training and experience in a way that applies to the person so that they can effect change with support. As an added benefit, coming from the “under-30” age bracket, she is able to interact with teens and children from a position closer to their current experience.
Stephanie has completed all the education and required exams to become a licensed professional counselor and has been granted a temporary license to practice until her time of internship has ended. The main advantage of this status is the ability to offer, on average, lower session costs than post-internship counselors. She has been working towards this goal for over six years and considers the last two years of client interaction the reward for the study preceding.
Becoming a therapist and partnering with a person in change is what Stephanie has pursued for most of her life. Her commitment to this desire is made possible by her supportive husband and loving family. The gift of understanding oneself and living the life one wants is priceless. Everyone deserves an opportunity to find that.
Interns
We also offer sliding scale or full-fee cash sessions with various interns. Educated in quality graduate programs at mostly local universities, these individuals are recently graduated and working on the hours required for licensure or are near the end of their graduate programs. All are closely supervised.
